Keeping your teeth white and bright isn’t the easiest thing in the world. Between foods that permanently stain the enamel and dentin, forgetting to brush here and there, and drinking soda, you’re constantly fighting a battle to keep your teeth looking sparkly white.

Add to that the myriad options for whitening your teeth, and it can seem hard to know what to do. However, our team here at Northpointe Dental has some recommendations for you and different whitening products you can and should use.

Adding whitening toothpaste to your oral hygiene routine, is a simple way to reduce minor surface stains between dental cleaning appointments. Keep in mind that the concentration of peroxide in whitening toothpaste is only strong enough to deal with minor stains. Teeth with moderate or deep stains will require stronger measures.

Some people like whitening strips because you can wear them and whiten your teeth while you are on the go. While you are wearing them you should avoid eating, drinking and using tobacco. However, like whitening toothpaste they are only strong enough to brighten minor stains.

Dental bleaching gels often have stronger concentrations of whitening agents than toothpaste or strips. To use them, you pour a small amount of gel into bleaching trays that you hold your mouth. These whitening agents can often brighten moderately stained teeth.

Deep stains on tooth enamel can rarely be whitened by retail level products. At Northpointe Dental we offer a dental bleaching procedure that can whiten deep stains safely and effectively.

If your teeth have deep stains, or you don’t trust yourself to whiten your teeth effectively at home, you can call us at 740-454-6644 to schedule a consultation appointment. That’s when we’ll determine what whitening treatment is the best option for you and your needs.
