When planning for a complex dental procedure, Dr. Brian J. Waggle may take a panoramic X-ray in Zanesville, Ohio. Panoramic X-rays captures the entire mouth in one image. This includes the teeth, upper and lower jaws, and the surrounding structures and tissues. Our dentist uses panoramic X-rays to plan for treatments including full and partial dentures, braces and tooth extraction. Panoramic X-rays can also reveal potential problems including:
- Advanced gum disease
- Oral cysts
- Tumors and oral cancer
- Impacted teeth
At Northpointe Dental, we utilize the Planmeca ProMax® imaging system. This panoramic imaging machine makes it easy to position patients correctly, which minimizes errors in the image. The triple laser beam system shows the correct positioning points. The Planmeca ProMax has an autofocus feature that positions the focal layer. The autofocus enables to take error-free, perfect panoramic every time.
When our dentist our Planmeca ProMax imager, you will be asked to wear a lead apron to protect you from the X-rays. Jewelry will need to be removed from the area being imaged. Glasses and other metal objects will also need to be removed, as they can interfere with the panoramic image.
